4 morning habits to make your day better

morning habits

How we start our day can have a domino effect on how the rest of our day goes which is why it’s important to have good morning habits that allow us to put our best foot forward.

If you start your morning right, you’ll notice the difference it makes in the rest of your daily activities. And done consistently, it may even change your life. Seriously. But what’s the best way to start the day?

Here’s our top 4 major keys to making your day great:

1. be consistent with your wake-up time

Don’t you hate waking up and feeling like the day has passed you by? Because, same. Instead of always feeling like you need to play catch-up, decide on the best time to wake up and make sure to follow through by waking up and rising from bed at the same time every day.

This will not only put you in the right frame of mind for tackling the tasks ahead but will also help you achieve a regular and more healthy sleep-wake schedule.

Of course, you can relax a little more during the weekend but try not to alter your wake-up time too radically. Rising 30 minutes to an hour later should be enough to help you feel like it’s a rest day without altering your body clock too radically.

2. refocus and prepare for the day

Your morning routine should include a few simple activities that will set you up for a productive and enjoyable day ahead. Prioritize morning habits that help you relax and get ready.

Whether it’s stretching, enjoying some quiet time, or reviewing your to-do list, your morning routine should help you get your mind and body in order for what’s to come.

Here are other activities you can consider before the workday rush starts:
● Meditation
● Reading something that makes you feel optimistic or prepared for the day ahead
● A relaxing shower
● Yoga or a light workout
● Journaling or making a list of everything you’re grateful for

3. make your bed and lay out your clothes for the day

This one sounds simple, but it can have MAJOR impact. Making your bed will help you feel like you’ve already accomplished something, even if it’s still early. Plus, it’ll be a nice gift for future you who will appreciate seeing an inviting bed after a long and tiring day.

Then, once your bed is made, set out your clothes. This helps you avoid procrastinating after your shower (aka scrolling through your FYP), while you’re cozy in your towel and can’t decide what to wear.

4. drink your water, eat a healthy breakfast, and get moving

Water is a great energy booster in the morning so you should definitely start your day with a glass of it. As in first thing in the morning, reach for that Hydroflask and get to chugging.

Follow it up with a healthy breakfast. It doesn’t have to be much, but you do need to ensure that your body gets enough nutrition to keep you going until lunchtime.

Once you’ve eaten, get moving. Prepare for your day and wake your body up. Avoid checking social media and other phone apps. Simply get started with your day and work on your to-do list.

You can always reward yourself with social media once you’re done with the more important stuff.

the power of a good start

Your morning should include habits that make you feel excited to start the day and put you in a positive frame of mind. Find out what these activities are (for you!) and find simple ways to incorporate them into your morning routine.

Now, what you do specifically should be tailored to who you are and what works for you. But, the basics should be on everyone’s list. Stuff like a healthy breakfast, drinking water, and consistency.

Remember, change happens one habit at a time and there’s no better time to get started than today.
